Scrapbooking Giveaway Day
This weekend, one commenter will win this gorgeous prize of a handcrafted Collage and Badge from Julie Kirk.
Julie Kirk & The Carousel Zebra is a shop stocked with collages, badges and greetings cards made from interesting, retro, vintage, re-cycled and found materials. Each unique item is made from a combination of new papers mixed with illustrations and patterns taken from Julie’s collection of old books, magazines, dress-making patterns and fabrics. She says that the words she adds to her work, also cut from vintage sources, are an important element in her attempt to tell new stories using old materials.
Julie is currently working on an online class which will look into combining scrapbooking with the interesting, vintage materials she uses in her work.
You can read more from Julie on her blog or on Twitter.

Are fantasy animals allowed? Mine’s a Pegasus if so. I’ve always wanted to be able to fly on one! X
2 September 2011, 15:42
My animal would be a hippo or at least a happy hippo. My husband and I used to be terribly overweight, an issue I am still working on. We used to jokingly call ourselves Mr & Mrs Hippo. Very happy memories. so the hippo reminds me to believe in myself the way my husband believed in me.

I’m afraid I can’t be too original… My power animal would be cats! I just love, love, love them, have three of my own (and rescued a few more). I love their character, their indepedence, even their mood changes – sweet, playful but also stubborn and demanding when they want. ;o)
3 September 2011, 05:13
My star sign is Scorpio and I can have a sting in my tail.
(Scorpios are fiercely independent. They are able to accomplish anything they put their mind to and they won’t give up. ) Just copied that from an astrology site ~ I’m definitely a Scorpio!!
3 September 2011, 05:21

Thanks for inroducing me to Julie, gorgeous work! My power animal is feline, could be a house cat, could be a lion, any feline will do. I love their majesty and sense of calm. They are not easily excited. Unlike many “dog” people think they are amazingly loyal (at least all mine have been) and love me unconditionally. When the need comes they are very strong, fierce and prtective.

Hard to narrow it down since there are so many animals that I love for different reasons but for sake of this post, a cat. They’re so regal, graceful and independent, yet are loving and playful and VERY curious!
3 September 2011, 14:36
My power animal would be the panther. It possesses alert patience- highly alert, yet completely relaxed, ready to respond to whatever comes it’s way. The panther also has the ability to observe quietly (something difficult for me to do).
Additionally, the panther has a sharp intuition, something I would be love to be able to tap into more often.

They feel emotions as they have been known to shed a tear, another human trait. Enjoying baths and showers and generally live a long life. Almost sounds better than my life!!Maggie
