Scrapbooking with Studio Calico :: Twisty Slide

Scrapbooking with Studio Calico :: Twisty Slide
scrapbook page
Next up in my mission to use every bit of all the Studio Calico kits this month came in the form of add-on two: Twisty Slide. There’s a red and turquoise vibe going on here, and that’s a colour combination I always love. I made this page with a combination of this add-on and the main kit, Elmwood Park, with a single photo The Boy snapped on our first wedding anniversary, then used this page to document the lovely day we had in the sunshine, wandering around the beautiful city centre of Bath. Here’s a little look at how it all came together.

If you missed grabbing this kit at Studio Calico, you can find many of the elements here. Those items are starting to sell out there too this week, so if there is something you fancy but it’s out of stock, you can always click that ‘request and notify’ button so you’ll get an email as soon as it’s back on the shelf.

I love the colours in this kit and it’s rare that I have to really get up the nerve to cut through all the papers straight away. Usually that doesn’t bother me at all, but all of these are so pretty I wanted to use them all for full page backgrounds! Um… I may have ordered an extra sheet of more than one of them so I can do just that another day.

I may have a small problem when it comes to paper, I realise.

Thanks so much for watching, and there’s more to come soon!

Scrapbooking with Studio Calico :: Elmwood Park

scrapbooking with studio calico elmwood park kit
scrapbook page
This July, I’m delighted to be the special guest of Studio Calico, the scrapbooking kit club. I had the very fun job of creating with their July kits, including the main kit Elmwood Park and the four add-on kits to complement. And oh goodness, did I make quite a bit! You can see my gallery here.

scrapbook page
In all, I finished twenty-one projects from their July kits! (Sixteen are shown in the gallery.) And as a little bonus, this week I have a series of five videos to share with you, then a few special things to come at the end of the week. In the first video, I’m working with just the main kit, to create a jubilee-themed page. This photo was one of my favourites of all the jubilee fun – it’s the window display at a local vintage shop.

The Elmwood Park kit already sold out, but you can take a look at previous kits at Studio Calico to see if subscribing is a good option for you. The kit is a mix of supplies available elsewhere and exclusive products only available in the kit, but you could still use the video series with your own stash if you like. Plus tomorrow I’ll link up the supplies that are available for individual purchase should that be more helpful.

I hope you enjoy the video series this week, and thanks Studio Calico for inviting me to have so much fun with all that paper goodness!

Getting ready to head home from CHA and have lots of photos to share! Think I can quickly manage one before I leave, so let’s have a look at the new things from Studio Calico! The collection above is called Autumn Press – there are a few leaves, but mostly just warm colours in non-themed patterns.

A clean, neutral line called Classic Calico, with the idea that they will continue to release new patterns in this same versatile colour scheme. Chevrons, woodgrain, dots and all sorts of things that will be so easy to use. Beautiful papers and embellishments that will definitely go with anything and let your photos shine.

Stamps – both clear and cling red rubber – designed by Studio Calico and produced by Hero Arts. Sounds like a good match to me!

A familiar sheet in a new finish – kraft cardstock letter stickers. Lovely for scrapping pretty much anything.

An addition to their Mister Huey mist collection – Calico Shine. It’s a white pearl finish and sprays really well. Saw this sampled in the booth and it’s lovely look – less glitter than other sprays, more a warm pearl.

Pages from the Studio Calico design team. Love the looks from their new collections, with the giant painted butterflies and the big ampersand mask.

Studio Calico :: Winter 2010 CHA report

scrapbooking supplies by Studio Calico

Studio Calico started as a kit club but recently expanded to selling their papers and embellishments to stores as well. Their first collection, Home Front was one of my favourites this winter and I used it here and here.
Their new line is called Anthology and it’s a winner too. Probably even more versatile than the first collection, so definitely worth a look!

Anthology includes papers, letter stickers (top right — the other letter print is actually a patterned paper), journaling stickers, journaling cards, and Fabrips — fabric strips that are printed with the coordinating patterns.

My must-have: these rub-on designs! Woodgrain, doilies and typewriters? Colours that are rich but just slightly vintage? I’m in love.

They also have clear stamps, and I’m very happy to see that alphabet on the left there. It’s like the Roosevelt stickers that were recently retired at American Crafts, and I have loved those stickers for years. Now it will be stampable.

Anthology will be in stores in a matter of weeks and look for the stamps and rub-ons to follow shortly thereafter.

Here’s a look around the rest of the booth:
